Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate (SLMI) is an ultra-mild (thus ideal for sensitive skin!), a sulfate-free surfactant that can be used as a primary or secondary surfactant. In formulations, it produces a dense creamy lather, provides gentle and thorough cleansing, rinses out very well, and leaves the skin feeling pleasant thanks to its light conditioning action. SLMI can be used to create clear liquid formulations due to its very good water solubility. SLMI is more hydrolytically stable than many common ester compounds and can therefore be incorporated into formulations with a pH of 4.5 to 8.5.

Processing:
SLMI is dissolved in water at 50-60 °C. Then, during the cooling phase, the other ingredients of the formulation can be added.
